As D.C. comes down from the high of the holidays, restaurants are keeping spirits high with special collaborations, Monday deals, and even parties celebrating Scottish poets. Get bundled up and go enjoy these spectacular winter pop-ups, plus be on the lookout for updates to this list. Up coming pop-ups Xiquet x Matsu Collaboration Dinner Matsu, one of the restaurants leading a fine dining culinary movement in Oceanside, California, will be throwing a collaborative dinner at Xiquet on Wednesday, January 14. Chefs William Eick and Danny Lledo will bring together Matsu’s refined takes on Japanese food and Xiquet’s traditional Valencia fare together in one tasting menu ($225 per person, plus optional $200 wine pairing). The pop-up marks the beginning of a year of collaboration dinners by Lledo, with at least one brand or chef collaboration on the calendar each month for the Xiquet team in 2026. Next up is a Krug Champagne tasting on February 12, for Valentines Day. Reservations are available on OpenTable. 2404 Wisconsin Avenue NW Chef Kevin Tien at Hill East Burger Chef Kevin Tien of Moon Rabbit, the highest-ranking D.C. restaurant in the 50 Best Restaurants North America, is bringing Cajun Vietnamese flavors to casual burger bar Hill East Burger Wednesday, January 14, to Friday, January 16. He’s adding a black pepper beef burger; Sichuan chicken sandwich; curly fries smothered in duck sausage and duck roux; and Vietnamese coffee banana pudding to the menu for a short time. Hill East Burger’s regular food and beverage menus will be available as well, and everything will be available for takeout and delivery as well. Reservations are on SevenRooms. 1432 Pennsylvania Avenue SE Vera Cocina x Mita Collaboration Dinner After a brief winter closure, Vera will celebrate reopening with the Michelin-starred Mita team in a collaborative dinner on Thursday, January 15. Each restaurant will create three original dishes for the event, with six event-only dishes being served alongside a crossover cocktail menu from 7 to 10 p.m. Another collaboration dinner, focused on alcohol-free hospitality, with Ama is coming up on January 29. The Lebanese-Mexican restaurant is also hosting non-alcoholic champagne and cocktail tastings throughout the month, starting with a partnership with Fever Tree on January 22 and with Genesis on January 29. Reservations are available on Resy. 2002 Fenwick Street NE Burns Night at Fish Shop One of Scotland’s most beloved traditions, celebrating poet Robert Burns on Burns Night, is coming stateside at Fish Shop on Saturday, January 24, from 6 to 10 p.m. The Scottish-born restaurant will be serving Highland-inspired cocktails, haggis bonbons, grilled oysters, and live bagpipe music. Of course, Burns’ famous poem“Address to a Haggis” will be performed during the event as well. Tickets ($85) on SevenRooms include passed bites, food stations, and an open bar. 610 Water Street SW Primrose x Mycelia Collaboration Dinner Mycelia, a new Virginia-based pop-up restaurant from chef Colby Janowitz and his wife Meagan Janowitz, are doing a collaborative dinner with Brookland wine bar Primrose on Sunday, January 25, with seatings at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The shared table experience will feature dishes that are rooted in local, seasonal produce and Mycelia’s inspiration of mycelium that creates underground networks to bring together chefs and farmers. Reservations ($85) for the four-course dinner, with extra bites, are available on Resy. 3000 12th Street NE Martha Dear x Little Donna’s Collaboration Dinner Mount Pleasant’s Greek sourdough pizza spot is doing a crossover dinner with Little Donna’s, a Baltimore restaurant that serves Midwestern and Southeastern European-style cuisine, on Thursday, January 29. Pierogis and pizza will definitely be on the menu, alongside new collaborative dishes. Reservations for will be available on January 15 on OpenTable. 3110 Mount Pleasant Street NW Baan Mae x ZZ Breakfast Club A one-day breakfast collaboration combining early morning staples from the Middle East and Laos is coming to Baan Mae on Monday, January 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pop-up with Rockville, Maryland-based ZZ has already booked up on OpenTable, but there will be limited walk-in spots available and to-go items. 1604 7th Street NW Taco Taco by Cranes Starting on January 26, Cranes will be hosting a lunch pop-up called Taco Taco with chef Pepe Moncayo serving up tacos that explore Japanese technique and Moncayo’s Spanish background, but also Latin flavors from traditional taquerias. Tacos, bowls, and wraps will be filled with grilled garlic shrimp with ajo blanco and chili oil; koji-marinated skirt steak with salsa macha; or crispy chicken karaage with napa cabbage and togarashi crema during the lunchtime pop-up from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. There will be a special promotion during the first week of Taco Taco’s launch, with more details coming soon from Cranes. 724 9th Street NW Ongoing pop-ups Cucina Morini Monday Pasta Deal Get in your comforting carbs this winter at Cucina Morini, with pasta deal Mondays extending throughout all of January and probably February, chef Matt Adler tells Eater. Diners can order $10 primi servings and $20 full servings of pasta during the Monday deal. There will be a short break on January 19th, but the pasta deal will start back up on January 26. Reservations are available on SevenRooms. 901 4th Street NW Trompo Mondays at Pascual This fire-fed Mexican spot is serving up trompo-cooked meats folded up in tortillas every Monday through this winter. Proteins cooked on a rotating spit span many different cuisines, like a South Indian trompo in late December with beef nadan (curry-spiced) served in tamarind tortillas.
