The Aurora Police Department (APD) is searching for the truck driver who is accused of hitting an RTD A Line train on Tuesday and then leaving the scene of the crash, according to APD public information officer Gabby Easterwood. Around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aurora police were notified of the crash at Sable Boulevard and E. Smith Road. When officers arrived on the scene, the truck driver had left.Preliminary police investigation found the truck driver allegedly drove over the tracks using the wrong side of the road while the crossing arms were down, leading the train to hit the truck.There were 50 people on board the train at the time of the crash. One of the passnegers was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Aurora police.Shuttle buses replaced the A Line commuter rail service at three stops due to the crash.The affected stops are Central Park, Peoria and the 40th / Airport - Gateway Park Stations.RTD doesn't know yet the extent of damage to the train crossing. ...read more read less
