INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gusty winds with speeds of 25 to 35 mph will impact Central Indiana today, along with a brief period of warmer temperatures before a significant drop in temperatures and potential snow showers later this week.
Today:
Temperatures wil
l rebound into the 40s today, with winds gradually diminishing throughout the afternoon. Tonight, lows will fall into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees and skies are expected to remain mostly clear.
Tuesday:
A warm front will bring milder air, with highs predicted to reach the upper 40s to low 50s. Some locations could even see temperatures exceed 55 degrees. Winds on Tuesday are anticipated to gust up to 30 mph in the afternoon.
A weak cold front is expected to move through late Tuesday into Tuesday night with low chances of light rain. The precipitation is not expected to amount to much but could precede the colder air.
January cold returns with snow:
Starting Wednesday, temperatures will quickly drop as much colder air moves into Central Indiana, setting the stage for several opportunities for light snow showers from late Wednesday through the weekend. The best chances for snowfall are indicated for late Friday into Saturday morning.
By the weekend, temperatures are projected to fall well below normal for mid-January, with the potential for more snow showers. Although no major winter storm has been indicated at this time, it does appear we are settling into a much colder and potentially more active pattern.
