Colts DC Lou Anarumo interviewed for Titans head coach job, target for Giants
Jan 10, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Lou Anarumo’s first season in Indianapolis could also be his last.
The Colts defensive coordinator is receiving considerable interest from multiple NFL teams looking for a new head coach. The Tennessee Titans announced Saturday that the 59-year-old was among the seve
n candidates in the first round of interviews for their head coach vacancy. The New York Giants are also expected to interview Anarumo “soon,” according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.
Anarumo has been a consistent name mentioned during head coaching searches the last few years. He was considered for the Giants job back in 2022 before New York ultimately hired Brian Daboll. Anarumo was also a finalist for the then-open Arizona Cardinals job in 2023.
The Colts hired Anarumo as defensive coordinator in January 2025. Anarumo took over for Gus Bradley who was fired after three years in Indy.
Anarumo’s defense had an up and down year filled with injuries this season. The Colts ranked in the top 10 in rushing defense, allowing the seventh-fewest yards on the ground (101.9). However, Indy struggled against the pass all season, finishing the year 31st in the league after giving up 247.9 yards a game.
The defense suffered from the extended absences of All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner and cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward, who all three dealt with different injuries.
Despite missing the playoffs for the fifth-straight season, Colts ownership decided to keep the core of the front office together, retaining general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen for another season. But Anarumo’s potential departure could disrupt the team’s continuity. The Colts have already lost defensive line coach Charlie Partridge to Notre Dame. Partridge joins the Fighting Irish as their new defensive line coach for the 2026 season.
