A 1-year-old boy has died after he fell out a fourth-floor window that his family had opened to ventilate their Edgewater apartment building on Friday, per a police report obtained by the Tribune. Muhsin Mirzoashrafov’s family was getting ready to go out just before noon when the infant climbed ov er the living room sofa and fell through the window, the report stated. The boy’s parents and uncle told Lincoln District (20th) police that they’d opened the window to bring down the temperature in their apartment, which had gotten too warm. Muhsin fell into the parking lot of the building, located at 5820 N. Sheridan Road, and was taken to Ascension St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, according to the report. He was pronounced dead around 4:45 p.m., per the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The police report listed the child’s death as accidental and department representatives said in a statement that they were still investigating the case.
