Stanley County Commission approves employee raises for 2026; Also recently approved ordinance regulating wind farms

The Stanley County Commission has approved (Jan. 6, 2026) the county employee salary resolution for 2026 and reorganized for the coming year.
Dana Iversen was reelected chairman and Craig Heller was elected vice chairman. Along with Commissioners Sunny Harrowa, Mike Kenzy and Gary Grittner, the grou
p approved a 3% pay increase for county employees.
Stanley County Commissioners also appointed Dustin Baxter to the position of Emergency Management Director. Previously, one person covered both Hughes and Stanley counties, with the two commissions sharing the cost. Baxter also works as a deputy in the Sheriff’s Office. The Hughes County Emergency Management Director is Nick Dooley, who is also the Highway Superintendent.
Late last month (Dec. 22, 2025), the county commissioners unanimously approved the Stanley County Wind Energy System Ordinance (Ordinance 2025-01). The group is also working on resolutions to address nuclear and solar sources of power.
