The defending Division III national champion UW-La Crosse gymnastics team gets its season started this weekend. The Eagles will be at the University of Nebraska for a quadrangular Saturday. After that, UW-L has its home-opener less than a week later on Jan. 16, against Greenville (Ill.). Listen to U W-L coach Kasey Crawford on the upcoming season here. Three gymnasts who won events in last year’s national championships return in senior Grace Kehr and juniors Raina Christenson and Claire Robbins. Kehr won the vault last season and took second on floor exercise, while Christenson and Robbins were part of a UW-L three-person tie for first on the balance beam. Last year’s title was the 18th National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) championship for the Eagles but first for coach Kasey Crawford, who is headed into her 10th season — she has led UW-L to three second-place and two third-place finishes over those first nine years.
