East Bay residents host vigil for woman killed by ICE agent in Minneapolis

A candlelight vigil took place Thursday in the East Bay for the woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Many were carrying signs in memory of Renee Nicole Good, the Minneapolis woman who was shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday.
“This did not look like
somebody that was trying to kill the officers, it looked like someone who was afraid,” said Patty, of Livermore.
The videos from eyewitnesses capturing the deadly ICE agent shooting in Minneapolis are fresh on the minds of people who attended the vigil.
“I think I had an initial thought of overwhelming sadness and despair… and anger,” said Jennifer Murdock, of Pleasanton.
In those videos, ICE agents say the driver was blocking the street with one agent grabbing the driver’s door handle and the other agent standing in front of the car.
When the driver accelerates, the ICE agent in front of the car fires shots at the driver.
Michael Leninger, a retired San Jose police officer and law enforcement analyst offered his take on the deadly shooting.
“I’ve looked at this from all angles and I’ve looked at it frame by frame. I don’t think this was a justifiable shooting,” Leninger said.
From what he’s seen so far in the videos, he says the tactics used by ICE agents were “unsound”.
“A vast majority of agencies in this country do not recommend standing in front of vehicle, reaching into a vehicle or shooting at a moving vehicle, only if it’s an imminent danger to yourself or others,” Leninger said.
The Trump administration believes the videos show the driver posing a threat to the ICE agent.
And as the FBI investigates the shooting, people in Pleasanton hope to get answers soon.
