A New Jersey man was killed by his brother-in-law during an argument on Christmas Day, authorities said Thursday. Frank Vitrano, 72, died following an argument with John Meyers, 69, at a home in Stratford, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release. Investigators said Meyers and Vitrano began arguing in a backyard at the residence about 10 miles southeast of Philadelphia, according to NJ.com. Meyers struck Vitrano on the head because Vitrano had slapped Meyers’ wife in the past, authorities said. The blow was not immediately considered serious, and Vitrano did not seek medical attention until the following day. He was ultimately pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital on Dec. 27. An autopsy determined Vitrano died by blunt force trauma. Meyers was arrested in Philadelphia on Dec. 29 and was held in Pennsylvania pending extradition to New Jersey. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Vitrano was born in Brooklyn, lived in Buena, N.J., and owned Bellevue Bagel Cafe, according to his online obituary. Meyers is a resident of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and was visiting New Jersey for the holidays, authorities said. ...read more read less
