Jan 8, 2026 morning forecast with Tara Hastings INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Windy and warm for the next couple of days before temperatures drop for the weekend. There is a chance we could see some strong thunderstorms later tonight and the precipitation will change over to some snow heading into the weekend. TODAY: Clouds will continue to stick around through a majority of the day today. We will look for a few light showers shortly after the lunch hour into the first part of the evening commute. These will be on the lighter side with no thunder associated with this batch of rain. Temperatures will climb into the upper 50s close to 60 for the afternoon hours. It is going to be incredibly breezy with winds gusting at times near 30 miles an hour. TONIGHT: Cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms developing. The best chance of rain will be after about midnight. There is a marginal risk or a level one out of level 5 that some of the thunderstorms could have some damaging winds. Temperatures will be into the upper 50s near 60. TOMORROW: Look for steady temperatures throughout much of the day on Friday. It will be incredibly mild with highs right around 63. Some spotty showers could be possible but a majority of the day will be windy, warm and cloudy. Temperatures will be very close to record readings. 7 DAY EXTENDED FORECAST: Temperatures drop on Saturday. Highs only around 47.  Scattered rain showers will change over to snow showers as temperatures drop throughout the afternoon and early evening. We could see a light coating of snow especially in northern sections of Indiana.  On Sunday look for temperatures to actually drop below normal. Mostly cloudy conditions with some scattered snow showers at times.  Beginning next week we will see temperatures near normal with partly cloudy skies on Monday.  ...read more read less
