Second lawsuit filed against Bucks Co. nursing home, PECO after explosion
Jan 07, 2026
Two more people who were residents at the Bucks County nursing home when it exploded in December have filed a lawsuit against PECO and the facility.
The lawsuit accuses Bristol Health Rehab Center of carelessness and recklessness and claims that the facility knew of the threat of a gas leak but
still continued to conduct activities despite this threat.
Joseph Juhas Sr. and Maryann Schnepp were residents of the facility and suffered serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, bone fractures and other injuries, when the explosion happened, the lawsuit says.
The defendants include PECO Energy Company, which provided natural gas to the complex, its parent company Exelon Corp., and Saber Healthcare Holdings LLC of Beachwood, Ohio.

This lawsuit comes one day after four people who were hurt in the explosion sued the facility and PECO.
The initial explosion on Dec. 23, 2025, killed a resident and a worker and injured 20 other people.
The force of the blast shook nearby houses for blocks in Bristol.
On Monday, Jan. 5, a third person succumbed to injuries suffered in the incident.
Officials have not said what caused the blast, but a PECO crew had been there to investigate a reported gas leak.
Authorities reported acts of heroism in response to the explosion. About 100 residents were taken to other nursing homes nearby, officials said.
