Two officers with the Philadelphia Police Department were hospitalized overnight after, officials said, they were involved in crash that happened in the city’s East Germantown section. According to police, the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when a police cruiser was involved in a crash at the intersection of Germantown and Glenwood avenues. Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash, but did not immediately say how the crash occurred. At the scene, a police cruiser appeared to have struck a telephone pole before coming to rest, while a disabled Honda SUV sat in the middle of the intersection after suffering significant front end damage. Talking to NBC10 on Wednesday morning after the crash, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said that both officers were conscious when treated by first responders after the crash and they were taken to the hospital after suffering minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Small said, was not injured. Police have not said what may have caused this crash, nor have they said if anyone may face charges because of this incident.
