Philly man sentenced for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, prosecutor say

A Philadelphia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking ring that included fentanyl and cocaine, United States Attorney David Metcalf announced on Tuesday.
Mario Fernandez Nunez, 23, was charged in July 2024 and then plead guilty in May 2025 to several ch
arges for possessing and distributing more than 40 grams of fentanyl and more than 500 grams of cocaine, Metcalf’s office said.
According to court filings, Nunez’s co-conspirator, Yercy Fernandez Salcedo, would typically arrange a drug sale over the phone and then Nunez would take the drugs to the buyer and collect the money.
As part of Nunez’s role in the trafficking ring, he lived in and ran the stash house at the 4700 block of Worth Street in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Metcalf’s office said.
During a raid in Feb. 2024, DEA and other federal agents found “six firearms, tens of thousands of packets of fentanyl, a kilogram of cocaine, packaging materials, and paraphernalia” in the home, Metcalf’s office said.
Salcedo has also plead guilty for his role in the ring and is awaiting sentencing.
Nunez and Salcedo also plead guilty to gun charges along with the drug trafficking charges, Metcalf’s office said.
