She also leaves an in-law family to whom she became as close as siblings: Catherine Chant and Stephen Belitsos, Barbara and Paul Colton, Elizabeth Chant and Jill Burley, Paul and Anne Chant, Daniel and Jodie Chant, and Kirsten Chant; nieces Sarah, Margaret, Emily, Libby, Jacqueline, and Jessica; and nephews Brady, Thomas, Luke, Drew, and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Chant, brother Joe St. Pierre, sister Connie Rawson, brother-in-law Timothy Chant, and nephews Andrew and Ronny. She was born Sept. 29, 1951, the second eldest of four to Joseph and Katherine (McCloskey) St. Pierre. She was born in Darby, Pennsylvania, grew up in Colonia, New Jersey, and studied English and French, graduating from Newark State College (now Kean University). Suzanne met Steve, the love of her life, in the early 1990s, on the online network Prodigy, where both were early personal computer users. Suzanne and Patrick relocated from New Jersey to Vermont to share life’s adventures with Steve and Ariel. Gerry joined in on vacations and many special times. Besides being a loving wife, proud mother, caring sister and affectionate grandmother, Suzanne was a poet, an artist, a quilter, an avid reader, and a lover of music. She loved traveling near and far with her partner in creativity, Steve. They loved driving around New England, holding hands, trying their luck at diners, auctions, craft fairs and bookstores. For many years, they would take an annual summer break from work and family and go to Moosehead Lake in Maine, each with a pile of books for entertainment. In retirement, they discovered the joys of cruising and island-hopping in the Caribbean, even taking back-to-back cruises one year that gave them a full month at sea. In other years, they got their break from Vermont winters in St. Nevis and Bonnaire. Suzanne and Steve were crazy in love from the day they met. They delighted in their passions for words, art, music, their children and each other. She was loved by many others for her intelligence, her generosity, her strength and her sometimes-gentle and sometimes-fiery spirit. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
