Parkite freeskier Nick Goepper won the halfpipe World Cup in Calgary, Canada on Saturday. Goepper finished with a winning score of 94.80, a little over two points ahead of Aussie Finley Ives Melville in second place. Goepper’s U.S teammmate Birk Irving rounded out the podium in third place. Irving’s sister Svea also finished in third in the women’s event on Saturday. Aussie Indra Brown won the women’s competition, narrowly edging out Zhang Kexin of China in second place. The win provides Goepper with a critical Olympic qualification result after he finished 16th at the Copper Mountain, Colorado halfpipe World Cup on Dec. 20. The freeski halfpipe World Cup tour continues Jan. 7-10 with the Aspen, Colorado World Cup. The Aspen World Cup will be the final Cup before the Milan Olympics.
