An evacuation order has been lifted for a wildfire burning near Schriever Space Force Base, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.Previous CoverageThe evacuation order was issued for the following areas: west of Curti
s Road south of Davis Road east of Blaney Road north of Highway 94The fire was burning near Dragonman Distributors, which is located near Schriever Space Force Base: Following the fire, Dragonman's Shooting Range posted the following statement on their Facebook page: Around 1pm today, a fire started behind our range caused by incendiary ammo THAT WE DO NOT ALLOW ON OUR RANGES (RSO verbalizing this, signs stating rules and on our range rules waiver). Witnesses saw two shooters fire rounds, spark a flame on the berm, verbalize they may have caused it, pack up and immediately leave in their cars. While we have footage, we are also asking for any info to narrow down names. We are asking if anyone has more information to call us at (719) 683-2200. The fire department and all of us at Dragonman's would like to know who these individuals are. This could have been very damaging to us and our neighbors! The fire has been put out and we want to greatly thank The Ellicott Fire Dept, Calhan Fire Dept, Falcon Fire Dept, Shriever Fire Dept, and the staff at the Colorado Springs Emergency Dispatch. Our very own Dragonman was the first on location making a huge dent with his payloader protecting everything he's worked hard for. We take everyone's safety and that of our staff very seriously. In the future, we may be checking rounds to ensure nothing sparking flames will be allowed. It sucks this is what it might come down to, but the safety of individuals and our facility are incredibly important us.
