Marcus’ 4 a.m. Wednesday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our wild December weather wraps up with another round of light snow that could make for slower travel overnight.
Today:
Temperatures today will climb to near or just above freezing, allowing for some brief, winter sunshine during
the day before clouds return in the afternoon.
Snow returns:
A clipper system will drop into the state by mid afternoon, sparking scattered snow showers over the northern half of the state.
This evening, snow will continue to fall, tapering late tonight, especially affecting communities along and northeast of Interstate 74.
The forecast indicates that most areas can expect snow accumulations of up to one inch, though localized amounts of 1 to 2 inches may occur from Lafayette to New Castle. Little or no accumulation is expected in areas southwest of I-74
Overnight lows are projected to be in the teens north of I-70 and in the low to mid-20s further south.
Cold start to 2026
Quiet conditions, but cold temperatures will fill in behind our NYE clipper system. Highs will only hit the upper 20s and lower 30s across the central Indiana.
Weekend:
We settle into a quiet pattern for the next few days. Temperatures will hover just below average for the weekend.
7 day forecast:
There are signs of a brief warming trend as we head back to work and school after the holiday break next week. Temperatures should bounce back to the lower 40s for Monday, and could push into the mid/upper 40s by Tuesday. Our next chance of precipitation comes late Tuesday night as a cold front moves through the region.
