(KRON) — The San Francisco Zoo Gardens is kicking off the new year by offering free admission to children, ages 11 and under, throughout the month of January. The offer begins on Jan. 1 and runs through Jan. 31, 2026, the zoo announced in a press release. Which stores will be open on New Year’ s Eve and New Year’s Day? Customers can purchase a maximum of five kids' tickets per adult. Tickets purchased through the zoo’s website are subject to a $1 processing fee per ticket (including the free kid’s ticket). There is no fee if the tickets are purchased in person at the zoo’s on-site ticket window. “This is a great opportunity to enjoy the Zoo, be outdoors and see amazing animals if you haven’t visited in a while,” the zoo's interim co-CEO Cassandra Costello said. “We’re here 365 days a year, and what’s great is that every visit you’ll see something different, from our giraffes having breakfast or wolverines wrestling in snow. It’s a lot of fun, especially for kids.” The zoo debuted its newest gorilla, a 26-year-old silverback named Cecil, in October.
