The Spurs will be shorthanded when they host the Knicks on Wednesday, as Devin Vassell has been ruled out due to an adductor strain. Stephon Castle could also miss the game with a sprained thumb, but there’s a chance he suits up as he was listed as questionable. Vassell headed to the lo cker room with a trainer in the game against the Cavaliers, according to Sports Illustrated’s Matt Guzman. He then returned to the game and had no noticeable signs of injury, so even though there have been no reports about the severity of the strain, it’s fair to speculate that it’s likely not serious. It will be the first game the sharpshooter will miss this season after starting all 32 games for the Spurs. Castle is listed as questionable with a sprained thumb. The second-year guard is having a breakout. The Spurs need him even when they are at full force, but his presence would be greatly appreciated in a game without Vassell. Castle has missed nine games this season. The Knicks are also dealing with injuries and will be without Landry Shamet (shoulder), Josh Hart (ankle), and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) for the rematch of the Cup championship game. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT. FanDuel Network will be in charge of the broadcast. ...read more read less
