Broncos resign guard Calvin Throckmorton to practice squad
Dec 30, 2025
As expected, the Broncos on Tuesday re-signed guard Calvin Throckmorton to their practice squad.
The Broncos waived Throckmorton on Friday with the expectation he would be re-signed to the practice squad if he cleared waivers. He cleared waivers Monday.
Throckmorton had been signed from the pr
actice squad to the 53-man roster on Thursday to also serve as the backup center behind Alex Forsyth for Denver’s 20-13 win that night at Kansas City. Forsyth had replaced Luke Wattenberg, who was placed on injured reserve Thursday with a shoulder injury.
Throckmorton was not needed on offense against the Chiefs. But he did get in for four snaps on special teams.
The Broncos then on Friday plucked Sam Mustipher off the practice squad of the Los Angeles Chargers to serve as Forsyth’s backup.
Throckmorton has gone up and down this season from the practice squad to the active roster and has appeared in 10 games. He has two elevations left of three possible ones, making him eligible to be elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Chargers at Empower Field at Mile High.
Denver has clinched a playoff berth, and allowed elevations start over in the postseason.
The Broncos still have one opening on their practice squad.
