Update: Weather alert announced for lake effect snow and showers in New York until Tuesday morning
Dec 29, 2025
The National Weather Service issued an updated report at 2:08 a.m. on Tuesday for lake effect snow and showers until 8 a.m. for Yates, Seneca, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Tioga, Broome and Delaware counties."Snow showers, and lake effect snow bands have set up across the region early this morning.
Snow could be locally heavy at times, reducing visibility down to 1/4 mile. This coupled with the strong gusty winds, blowing snow and cold temperatures will create snow covered and slippery road conditions. Localized accumulations of 2 or 3 inches will be possible through 8 a.m. If you are traveling this morning be prepared for rapidly changing weather and road conditions. Plan some extra time to reach your destination safely," says the weather service.
