    A surge of cold air sweeps in tonight, and you’ll notice it quickly! Gusty winds stick around as that colder air locks into place, sending temperatures falling into the 20s across the Piedmont. It’s a cold setup heading into Tuesday morning. For the mountains, the cold turns dangerous with wind chill values near or even below zero. Tuesday brings plenty of sunshine, but the sun will not warm things up. Even with clear skies, temperatures stay stuck below average, and the air will feel dry and crisp. The wind won’t be as strong as Monday, but there will still be a chill that lingers through the day. By mid-week, and the last day of 2025 the weather settles down. Dry conditions continue, winds relax, and temperatures slowly start to rebound closer to normal. It won’t feel warm, but it will be a big improvement from earlier in the week. Late week looks quiet and more comfortable. The first day of 2026 and Friday remain dry as high pressure stays in control, allowing temperatures to climb to near or slightly above normal by Friday afternoon.
