Crime recap: 219 arrested last week in El Paso County

Colorado Springs police saw assault, motor vehicle theft and a fatal crash last week, among other incidents, with law enforcement making 219 arrests in El Paso County.
From Dec. 21 to Dec. 27, the Colorado Springs Police Department posted seven blotter entries to its public database of incidents
approved for release. Here is a recap of those entries:
On Sunday, Dec. 21, one man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being stabbed in the 1700 block of Aeroplaza Drive. Police have not announced any arrests and ask anyone with information to call the anonymous Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 719-634-STOP (7867).
Also on Sunday, police were dispatched to an in-progress motor vehicle theft near Memorial Park after a juvenile offender allegedly stole car keys from a victim and took their Ford Escape. The suspect has been arrested for multiple felony offenses, including an attempted homicide incident, and is considered armed and dangerous with a high propensity for violence.
On Monday, police announced the arrest of the juvenile who stole the Ford Escape the day prior. The Police Department worked with several department units, including a K-9, to arrest the suspect. The juvenile is considered “highly proficient in the methods and means” of stealing Hyundai and Kia cars, known as the “Kia Boyz Challenge.” The suspect faces charges of robbery and second-degree motor vehicle theft for this incident.
On Wednesday, a man dressed in painters’ coveralls with a mask and gloves appeared to be planning a robbery at a local bank. When an employee locked the door to prevent his entrance, he fled in a black SUV, partially covered in wrapping paper. No other details were announced.
On Saturday, just after 2 a.m., officers witnessed a physical altercation between 3-4 males in downtown Colorado Springs. When they attempted to intervene, a suspect allegedly looked at an officer and punched him in the head. The officer sustained a minor injury and returned to duty, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Also on Saturday, a security guard was assaulted with “bats and tools” after approaching trespassers at a condemned building in the 4300 block of East Pikes Peak Avenue. Craig Mauro and Janel Glasgow were arrested in connection with their alleged involvement, and the security officer was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
On Saturday evening, police responded to a crash on South Powers Boulevard and East Platte Avenue, where one victim was trapped in their vehicle. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and succumbed to their injuries later that night. Initial investigation revealed that a sport utility vehicle traveling northbound crossed a median, striking a sedan traveling southbound.
