On Sunday at 8:33 a.m. the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 4 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Madison County.“Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations around a light glaze,” comments the weather service. “Freezing rain will move into the area by late a fternoon, expect slowly rising temperatures as the freezing rain continues this evening. Many areas will warm above freezing late tonight changing all the precipitation to plain rain. Then a cold front moves through north central NY Monday with bitter cold air moving in on strong west to northwest winds. This will lead to a prolonged significant lake effect snowstorm. There is still uncertainty as to where the heaviest snow will fall.
