Dec 27, 2025
A 26-year-old woman was killed after her car slid on an icy road in Monroe Township in Gloucester County and overturned on Saturday morning, police said.
The car was found by a passerby just after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, and was found overturned in a small body of water, police said.
After an investigation, police said they believe a woman from Franklin Township was driving a 2025 Kia Sportage eastbound on W. Malaga Road, near Bracken Drive, when her car slipped on the icy roadway and rotated, eventually sliding off the road and into a small body of water next to the roadway.
The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Icy roads across region
Roads and sidewalks were icy throughout the Philly region after a wintry mix came down overnight Friday into Saturday.
NBC10 was out looking at the roads and found many side streets were still dealing with dangerous issues.
A car even slid while making a turn as Siobhan McGirl reported live from Pennsauken in Camden County.
A real concern is black ice, which will look like shiny or wet asphalt. Drivers are urged to be aware of the cars in front of them and avoid any quick movements with their steering wheel to stay safe.
If your car begins sliding on black ice, begin to slow down, but do not hit the brakes or accelerate too hard because it will cause the car to slide more.
Saturday night and Sunday morning are going to remain cold, but dry. However, more wintry mix is expected for Sunday afternoon and evening.
