TAIPEI, Taiwan (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook Taiwan late Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 11:05 p.m. local time, centered about 19 miles (31 kilometers) east of the coastal cit
y of Yilan.
Tremors were felt in the capital, Taipei, more than 30 miles away, where residents reported shaking that rattled light fixtures.
Authorities were monitoring the situation, and no tsunami warnings were issued.
