Indiana Grown: Simply from Scratch
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.
This week, Lauren and Suzanne Flanders with Simply From Scratch in Noblesville join the show!
Simply From Scratch is a fam
ily-owned farm-to-table business in Noblesville.
The Flanders, a mother-in-law and daughter duo, opened the store in 2009 to bring “made from scratch” meals to different events.
After over ten years in the catering business, they’ve turned Simply From Scratch into a “grocery on wheels,” bringing you “farm-fresh groceries, home-baked items, spices, and more.”
Lauren said, “Our journey started with an Amish country dairy milk, and from there, it branched into a kind of grocery store on wheels because people kept asking, ‘Well, do you have milk? Do you have bread? Do you have eggs?’ And that branched us into all of these other Indiana-grown products.”
Suzanne chimed in, sharing more details about the Amish country milk.
“I drank this (milk) knowing it was going to upset my stomach, and it didn’t,” she said. “(There are) no preservatives in the milk. It was non-homogenized and pasteurized lightly. So, we wanted to go back to Shipshewana and buy some, bring it back to central Indiana.”
The Flanders work with multiple Indiana farms to gather the goods for their store, but the family has some farming experience, as well.
“We have our grain operation, and Lauren’s children will be the eighth-generation on the grain farm,” Suzanne said. “We also do black raspberries and sweet corn, of course, what farmer doesn’t do sweet corn?”
Suzanne adds that their farm is “very regenerative” and 100% no-till. “We always laugh when people talk about all that environmental stuff. We’ve done that for 30 years.”
The farm is open to the public from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Their goods are available for delivery on Market Wagon, which delivers to 19 counties in Indiana.
