On Thursday at 7:18 p.m. the National Weather Service released an updated winter weather advisory valid from Friday noon until Saturday 7 a.m. for Steuben and Chemung counties.“Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 4 inches and ice accumulations around a li ght glaze,” describes the weather service. “A mix of snow and sleet moves into the area Friday afternoon, some freezing rain could mix in during the evening hours. The wintry mix of snow, sleet and possibly freezing rain continues into the overnight hours before ending early Saturday morning.
