RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A ticket sold online in Virginia won $1 million in Christmas Eve's Powerball drawings, as several other tickets bought across the Commonwealth also scored up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Virginia Lottery officials announced on Thursday, Dec. 25, the winning ticket, which was purchased online using the Virginia Lottery app. Officials said a ticket sold in Arkansas matched all six numbers to win the over $1.8 billion jackpot. The winning numbers were 4-25-31-52-59, and the Powerball number was 19, per the Virginia Lottery. Virginians are buying more lottery tickets as sales rise nearly 20%: state revenue report The jackpot is now $20 million for the Saturday drawing on Dec. 27. Officials also announced one $100,000 wining ticket, which was bought at Wawa, 9235 Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania. Two other tickets, each winning $50,000, were purchased at the following locations: 7-Eleven, 2105 Salem Road in Virginia Beach Chill Stop, 3200 Western Branch Blvd. in Chesapeake Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in the Commonwealth.
