SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The first of two powerful winter storms expected to bring high winds, rain, thunderstorms, and even possible tornadoes, reached the Bay Area Tuesday night. The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for coastal areas and a wind advisory for interior areas. South erly winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected with gusts of up to 65 mph possible along the coast. Inland, southerly winds will range between 25 to 35 mph with 55 mph gusts possible. A second system is due to move through the area later in the day Wednesday, stretching into Thursday's Christmas holiday. The storms arrive on the heels of a massive power outage in San Francisco that, at its height, left 130,000 customers in the dark. The storms bring concerns of more outages.
