Marcel Andrew Lapierre, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 13, 2025.
Marcel was born on the Lapierre Dairy Farm in Shelburne on Jan. 29, 1937 to Euclide and Yvonne (Roy) Lapierre. A true Vermonter, he embraced the values of helping others, working hard and taking care of his family.
He worked for over 30 years delivering ice cream for Sealtest Ice Cream, Bove-Fagan Ice Cream Distributors, and West Lynn Creamery to chain stores in Vermont and New York. Following his “retirement” he worked for Lily Transportation and Ryder as a transfer driver, and finally for Bond and O’Reilly delivering auto parts. He continued working until the age of 83! Nothing made him happier than being behind the wheel of a tractor or a truck.
On Oct. 14, 1972 he married Joyce LaGrow, who predeceased him in 2023. He was also predeceased by his parents, sister Yolande Turmel and her husband Robert, and brother-in-law George Bouffard.
Marcel is survived by his daughter Melissa of South Burlington, beloved “grandcat” Mudpie, sister Jacqueline Bouffard of Colchester, and brothers Claude (Gail) of Shelburne and Lucien (Mary-Lou) of Jericho, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
We are incredibly grateful to the wonderful nurses at UVM Home Health and Hospice, who enabled him to remain at home during his final weeks. Melissa would especially like to thank Gale Smith, RN, for his kindness and comfort at the very end.
