MARION, Ind. (WISH) — A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the Sunday morning discovery of a girl found fatally shot at a home in Marion, police say.
A social media post issued Tuesday night from Marion Police Department said the deadly shooting was reported at 9:25 a.m. Sunday
at the home in the 2000 block of West 11th Street. That’s an area with mobile homes in the western half of the city.
Police found the girl dead. An infant and a man were also in the home.
An autopsy done in Fort Wayne determined the cause of death could not have been self-inflicted.
The post said, “Investigators met with Grant County Prosecutor Scott Hunt, and it was determined that the case would proceed as a reckless homicide investigation. LeBron Collier, 22 years old and residing at the same address, was subsequently arrested for reckless homicide.”
The girl was not identified in the post, and her age was not provided.
The post said Collier lived in the home where the girl was found.
Online court records on Tuesday night did not show a case for Collier.
News 8 reached out to the Grant County sheriff to find out if Collier was in the county jail but did not receive an immediate response.
Officials at the Marion Police Department asked anyone with information to contact Capt. Josh Zigler at 765-662-9981 or [email protected]. Additionally, tips can be submitted anonymously through Grant County Crime Stoppers at (765) 662-8477 or online.
