(KRON) -- More than $800,000 worth of merchandise was recovered after a months-long investigation into a retail theft operation across Northern California, the California Highway Patrol announced Tuesday. Thirteen suspects -- all but one from Oakland -- were taken into custody on Dec. 11. CHP state d the stolen goods were being resold for profit at flea markets in San Jose, Oakland, Modesto and Stockton. The stolen merchandise -- which totaled 44,140 items -- recovered include cosemetics, clothing, power tools, alcohol and diapers. Photos of the stolen items were posted by CHP (see slideshow below). Authorities said two firearms, more than $10,000 in cash, five vans, two passenger vehicles and two trailers were recovered. According to CHP, the investigation dates back to September when officers were notified about two retail theft suspects who stole merchandise in Placer County and "other locations throughout the state." All 13 suspects were booked into Placer County Jail. CHP released a list of the arrested suspects.
