‘Mr. Science’ showcases holiday science experiments for families

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Jason Lindsey, a STEM certified instructor known as “Mr. Science,” is back in the studio showcasing fun science experiments for the holiday season. During his appearance, he shared several engaging activities that families can easily do at home

Lindsey is a nationally recognized STEM educator, author and science communicator with a strong presence on national television, including appearances on the NBC Today Show and Fox Friends.
His second book, “Big Science Experiments for Little Kids,” has become a best-seller on Amazon and he actively promotes science education by performing experiments at schools across the United States. Lindsey holds the National Weather Association television broadcast Seal of Approval, emphasizing his dedication to effective science communication.
During his recent segment, Lindsey introduced a variety of products and experiments, including the “Elf’s Trick Cup,” which demonstrated the properties of matter using household items. This experiment involved a super absorbent polymer, similar to the material found in diapers, to illustrate how matter can change states.
Lindsey encouraged viewers to explore science at home safely by using materials readily available around the house. Lindsey’s festive approach to science was further highlighted through an experiment called the “Santa Drop,” which required participants to apply force to catch a representation of Santa using a cup and other household items. He explained that science can be performed without the need for specialized lab equipment, stating, “you can use anything to do science.
You don’t have to have beakers and Bunsen burners. Anyone can be a scientist.” This sentiment reflects his philosophy of making science accessible to everyone, regardless of background or resources. Lindsey has shared his passion for science education beyond the United States, having visited countries such as Germany, Brazil and Honduras.
He remarked, “I’ve been to Germany, Brazil, Honduras, where I got the nickname Senor Ciencia, Mr. Science,” highlighting his impactful international outreach in promoting STEM education.
