Less than two months after its splashy reopening at The Rim, San Antonio’s Salsita is already throwing in the towel. The newest incarnation of the taquería will close on Tuesday, December 23.“We laughed, we danced, we ate good tacos,” wrote the restaurant in a social media post. “Let’s do it one last time. Salsita closes December 23.”The closure is the latest twist to the concept opened in 2022 by hospitality firm Grupo Orraca. The restaurant first debuted as Santa Diabla, the group’s first foray into the U.S. market, in the Tobin Hill area near the St. Mary’s Strip. It’s unclear when that restaurant shuttered, but after coastal Mexican standby Tiago’s Cabo Grille closed, Salsita’s website teased that it would soon take over Tiago’s space. That move was made official by Salsita’s grand opening on November 1. Although the restaurant’s closure graphic says that “every ending is just a new beginning,” Grupo Orraca has not announced any future plans for the nascent restaurant.A request for a statement was not returned in time for publication. CultureMap will update this article if the restaurant provides a statement. ...read more read less
