One more chilly day then a milder holiday stretch | Dec. 20, 2025
Dec 20, 2025
Dec. 20 | Evening Forecast with Meteorologist Drew Narsutis
TONIGHT
Mostly clear to partly cloudy and cold, lows in the mid 20s, a light south breeze around 5 mph. Roads stay dry and any leftover patches of snow or ice slowly crust over again by daybreak, so it is a quiet but chilly night
for last minute plans.
TOMORROW
The last clearly chilly day of the stretch, with a mix of clouds and some filtered sun. Highs only reach the upper 30s to near 40, a west northwest breeze around 10 mph keeps a cool bite in the air. It is good travel weather, just make sure you keep the heavier coat handy for church, errands, and outdoor time.
TOMORROW NIGHT
Partly cloudy and cold, lows in the mid 20s, light and variable wind. Any damp spots refreeze again, and the cold start Monday morning will still feel like December, even as a warmer pattern begins to build aloft.
MONDAY
A step in the right direction with more sun and a milder feel, highs climbing into the mid 40s, a south wind around 10 to 15 mph. It stays dry for most of central Indiana, and you will notice more comfortable air for afternoon travel and finishing up outdoor chores.
MONDAY NIGHT
Increasing clouds and not nearly as cold, lows in the mid 30s, a south breeze around 10 mph. Most of the night is dry, but you may notice the air feeling a bit more damp and mild as we head toward Christmas week.
TUESDAY
Mostly cloudy and seasonably mild, highs in the upper 40s to near 50, a south wind around 10 to 15 mph. A stray light shower cannot be ruled out late, especially west of Indianapolis, but most of the day is workable with a gray sky and a milder feel for shopping and travel.
TUESDAY NIGHT
Cloudy and turning a bit wetter, lows in the low to mid 40s, a south wind around 10 to 15 mph. Scattered showers develop, not especially heavy, but enough to leave roads wet heading into Christmas Eve.
WEDNESDAY
Christmas Eve trends mild and at times damp, with mostly cloudy skies and showers around, especially from late morning into the afternoon. Highs reach the low 50s, a south to southwest wind around 10 to 15 mph with a few higher gusts. It is not a washout, and there will be some dry breaks, but plan on a rain jacket rather than a winter coat for most of the day.
CHRISTMAS EVE
Mostly cloudy and mild for late December with a few showers lingering, lows in the mid 40s, a southwest breeze around 10 mph. Any rain that falls stays as plain rain with the mild air in place, and travel issues are limited to wet pavement and some patchy fog.
CHRISTMAS DAY
Christmas Day looks seasonably mild with a mix of clouds and some breaks of sun, highs in the upper 40s to near 50, a west southwest wind around 10 to 15 mph. A spotty shower is possible, mainly early, but most of the day should be dry and reasonably comfortable for family visits and short walks, with temperatures slowly easing back down later in the afternoon and evening.
7 DAY OUTLOOK
Central Indiana moves from one last chilly day Sunday into a milder, at times wetter pattern through midweek as we head into Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Highs step from the upper 30s Sunday to the mid 40s Monday, then into the upper 40s and low 50s Tuesday through Thursday, while nights trend from the 20s up into the 30s and 40s. Showers become more likely Tuesday night and Christmas Eve, with lighter and more scattered rain chances on Christmas Day and mainly dry weather returning later in the week. The overall theme is a shift away from arctic cold toward a more typical late December pattern, with the main issues being wet roads and some patchy fog at times rather than snow or ice.
