RICHMOND, Ind. (WISH) — A 13-year-old is dead and four others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Wayne County early Saturday morning, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
At 2:33 a.m. Saturday, Wayne County 911 received a report o
f a vehicle that had run off the roadway and struck trees. The vehicle reportedly had multiple occupants inside. Wayne County deputies arrived and located a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox off the north side of the roadway after it left the roadway and collided with trees.
Investigators believe the Equinox was traveling northbound on State Line Road and failed to completely negotiate the curve as the roadway transitions to Greenmount Pike. The vehicle then slid off the north side of the roadway before colliding with trees.

Of the three rear-seat passengers, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, identified as Jeremy Bush, of Richmond, Indiana, were transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. A second 17-year-old rear-seat passenger was treated at Reid Health Hospital in Richmond.
The names of the juvenile occupants are being withheld at this time.
Investigators are continuing to examine the cause of the crash and all circumstances surrounding the incident, including vehicle operation, roadway conditions, and potential contributing factors. Investigators learned that the Equinox involved in this incident had been reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on Thursday.
This crash remains under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
