GRIFFITH, Ind. (WISH) — Some thieves prefer making out with cash and cars, others prefer small thrills at convenience stores. But one bandit in Lake County erred on the side of “savory” with his crimes. According to the Griffith Police Department, Christopher Stewart landed himself beh ind bars on Friday after investigators learned he’d been stealing boxes of ice cream from delivery trucks for several weeks. Security camera footage recorded the heists, along with vehicle records that eventually linked Stewart to the thefts. In the end, Stewart made out with 258 cases of ice cream, ringing up to about $6,200. Stewart reportedly admitted to detectives he had sold the stolen sweets. Stewart faces charges of theft greater than $750, theft with a prior conviction, and failure of duty.
