Dec 19, 2025
We’re not sure what this says about San Antonio’s KENS 5 newsroom, but it keeps churning out Survivor winners. Savannah Louie, a fixture of the station between 2017 and 2019, has been crowned the latest victor of the long-running competition series, netting a cool $1 million. The 31-year-old Cali
fornia native was once a fixture of Alamo City airwaves, wearing multiple hats as a correspondent, traffic anchor, and occasional morning show co-host. She left San Antonio for St. Louis, Missouri, and later Atlanta, Georgia, but has since left the media business altogether. Louie follows in the footsteps of another former KENS 5 personality, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, who was the sole survivor of the 24th season of the series, adding an extra $100,000 to her haul as the fan favorite. In Entertainment Weekly’s cast questionnaire before the latest season started, Louie said that her time behind the news desk would give her a competitive advantage.“Through my work as a journalist, I became an expert at connecting with others, building trust with all different types of people, and operating in high-stress scenarios,” she told the magazine. “A huge part of my job was getting people to trust me with some of the most intimate details of their lives. And the newsroom is ultra-competitive. If you can survive a newsroom, you can survive anything.”Louie may have brought home the big bucks this round, but she'll have some stiff competition on the next. She will be taking part in the huge 50th anniversary season of the show, testing her skills against 23 Survivor legends, including heavyweights like Cirie Fields, Ozzie Lusth, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, and White Lotus creator Mike White. The mega-charged season, featuring former cast members from the show's 25-year history, will premiere on February 25, 2026. Meanwhile, employees at the CBS affiliate might want to start boning up on their puzzle and fire-making skills for Season 51.
