LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — According to Gatton Park On The Town Branch‘s Facebook page, their Winter Village became the backdrop for a special holiday moment Wednesday night when Art proposed to Marilyn during the event’s festivities. The proposal took place inside a cozy igloo as the park’s Christmas tree light show illuminated the scene. The couple has been neighbors for more than 40 years and grew closer in recent years after each lost a spouse. They now enjoy attending church, social events, plays and musical shows together. Event organizers said they were thrilled Winter Village could play a role in the milestone and wished the couple many years of happiness. Winter Village continues nightly through December 23, from 5 to 10 p.m., offering holiday lights, displays and seasonal activities.
