Indy police seize hundreds of pounds of drugs and arrest two men
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After a joint investigation, law enforcement officials arrested two men for operating a drug trafficking organization in Indianapolis.
On Dec. 11, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), I
ndiana State Police (ISP), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) concluded a months-long joint investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating throughout Indianapolis.
Investigators determined 39-year-old Devin Wilson and 37-year-old Michael Wilson were selling large amounts of narcotics and trafficking drugs across Indianapolis.
On Dec. 11, ISP troopers attempted to stop a truck that Devin was believed to be driving. He refused to stop and led troopers on a short pursuit. Eventually, Devin pulled over and was taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, Devin is alleged to have thrown several grams of fentanyl from the vehicle. He was arrested on the preliminary charges of possession of a narcotic drug, dealing in narcotics, and resisting law enforcement.
Later that day, detectives served search warrants at two homes on the southeast side of Indianapolis. A search of the homes produced the following evidence:
– 1.5 kilograms of suspected fentanyl.
– 3.5 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
– 424 grams of MDMA (ectasy/molly).
– 165 pounds of marijuana and 124 pounds of suspected marijuana vapes.
– 4,000 prescription pills, including oxycodone, hydrocodone, and Xanax.
– Five firearms with two confirmed to be stolen.
– $90,000 in U.S. currency.
Investigators also obtained additional evidence that helped secure an arrest warrant for Michael. On Wednesday, detectives with the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit and IMPD Interdiction Unit located Michael, and with the assistance of IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), he was taken into custody. He is being preliminarily charged with dealing in a narcotic drug, dealing in methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
“These arrests are the result of months of relentless, coordinated work by our investigators and partner agencies, and I couldn’t be prouder of their commitment to protecting this city,” said IMPD Lieutenant Justin Gough. “Taking this amount of deadly narcotics and illegal firearms off our streets has a real, lasting impact. It sends a clear message that we will continue working together to hold those who harm our community accountable.”
