Dec. 18 | Evening Forecast with Meteorologist Drew Narsutis INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are tracking a big temperature drop into Friday with a switch over from rain to snow. Friday’s switch back to very cold air is short lived as more in the way of above normal temperatures is on deck moving towards Christmas. Thursday night: Showers and windy conditions carry into Thursday night with a switch over to snow early Friday morning. There could be some localized snow bursts, and if that’s the case, a light coating of snow may form on the ground. Temperatures will plummet down into the upper teens by daybreak Friday, which could lead way to a flash freeze. The one thing that could mitigate this is breezy winds. Friday: Be weary on your Friday morning commute as there may be slick/icy spots with single digit wind chills. It will be a very cold day overall as highs only get into the upper 20s with feels like temperatures only up into the teens into the afternoon hours. Weekend: We rebound very quickly into this weekend with highs launching into the mid to upper 40s Saturday with a breezy southerly wind. Wind gusts could be up to 20-30 MPH at times with mostly cloudy skies. Sunday will trend towards a more normal mid-late December day with highs in the upper 30s. 7-Day Forecast: More in the way of warmer air is in store for next week as we head towards Christmas. We are still eyeing a warmer than average Christmas Day with the potential for temperatures to even be 15+ degrees above normal. The model consistency on this pattern is fairly strong despite still being seven days away. There are low chances for rain at times next week as well. ...read more read less
