Not up to job
Dec 17, 2025
There are two definitions of the word myopia. It means “nearsightedness or a lack of imagination, foresight, or intellectual prowess.” For our purpose of describing this president, the latter portion of the definition is more applicable.
It has been almost a year into his presidency, and it
can easily be said that he has not performed to our expectations. He has not presented a plan to lower the costs of groceries; provided a plan to make housing more affordable to young married couples and families; provided a health-care system that improves Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA plan.
The Republican legislators and the president, despite promising to repeal and replace Obamacare with a better health-care system, have simply failed to do so in 10 years. In fact, their beautiful budget bill that was recently passed by the Republican majority is expected to cause millions of people to lose their health-care benefits due to increased premium costs.
The president’s tariffs have caused China to boycott American farm products to the tune of a $20 billion loss to American farmers.
In essence, his campaign promises to “Make America Great Again” up to this point has been a catastrophic failure.
By indiscriminately cutting federal programs, affecting the lives of millions of Americans, eliminating aid to impoverished countries throughout the world without the approval of Congress is a public relations disaster.
In his effort to end the war in Ukraine, he seemingly has switched his support for Putin’s illegal invasion of Russian troops on Ukraine soil, and his unrelenting retribution efforts of his perceived enemies has taken valuable time away from more important judicial issues.
We are experiencing ethnic cleansing in this country, the likes we have never experienced before. I cannot believe that it is what the majority of citizens wanted when they gave their approval to the president to deploy ICE police to arrest criminals and rapists, but not ordinary non-combative Americans.
This was a tactic used to arrest Jews by the Gestapo in Nazi Germany, and it is the same tactic used by ICE police in our cities today. Yes, we all wanted better security at our borders, but not at the expense of hard-working, non-criminal Latinos who are working at back-breaking jobs that most Americans do not want.
A few of the Republican lawmakers, as well as some of my Republican friends, have recently expressed a disdain for the president’s policies. What we are experiencing is a president with “nearsightedness,” not a farsighted, visionary approach to the future that will enhance the lives of Americans.
If he continues his narcissistic behavior and his self-aggrandizement projects for the White House, and if congressional Republicans continue their modus operandi, the mid-term elections will be their undoing!
