French biotech company bioMérieux to cut 121 Bay Area jobs, close San Jose office

(KRON) -- French biotechnology company bioMérieux, Inc. plans to lay off 121 employees and permanently close its South Bay facility, according to a state filing.
The company disclosed the cuts in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice posted on the California Employment Deve
lopment Department website. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect April 3, 2026, the filing shows.
Bay Area airport brings back gate access for non-passengers
bioMérieux, founded in 1963 and headquartered in Marcy-l’Étoile, France, is a global leader in medical microbiology devices. The company’s Bay Area office is located on Baytech Drive in San Jose.
The announcement comes during a volatile week for bioMérieux’s stock. On Friday, Bank of America upgraded the company to neutral from underperform. However, Morgan Stanley lowered its price target Monday to €112 from €113.
