RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Four juveniles were arrested Sunday morning after police said they were arrested at the scene of vehicle vandalism and thefts from motor vehicles. At around 1:34 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, officers with the Richmond Police Department received a report of several juveniles da maging multiple vehicles in the 1500 block of North 31st Street. Police said this matched two other incidents featured in their advisory on Friday, Dec. 12, alerting the public to vehicles damaged and thefts from motor vehicles in eastern Richmond. Last week, police said nearly 60 parked vehicles were broken into across the city in the span of two days, on Thursday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 12. The vehicles were ransacked, their side windows were smashed and items were stolen from the cars. Upon arrival on Sunday, officers located the juveniles, engaged in short foot pursuits and arrested all four suspects. Police said they believe the juveniles are connected to the earlier incidents in their advisory. Officers seized many items from the suspects, including two window punches -- which are handheld devices used to shatter car windows. Two of the juveniles are 17 years old. The remaining are 15 and 16 years old. Police said they're consulting the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney regarding their charges. The Richmond Police Department continues to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. C. Miller at 804-646-1289. ...read more read less
