About 18 months after buying the Shoreham Inn, Kevin Drummond and Scott Shatzer reopened the pub dining room of their bed-and-breakfast this summer. The concise Thursday-through-Sunday dinner menu features a local beef burger, fish and chips, a fried chicken sandwich, a mixed green salad, and speci als such as meat loaf. Beer, wine and a full bar are on offer. The couple relocated to Vermont in January 2024 from Ohio to fulfill their dream of owning a New England inn. Shatzer, 61, previously worked in the health care field and Drummond, 56, was a social worker. They initially bypassed the listing for the 10-room Shoreham Inn because they weren’t interested in running a bar or restaurant, but their broker encouraged them to visit. “We found it so welcoming, and the inn kind of quirky and charming,” Drummond said. “It just felt like home when you walked through the door.” As Drummond and Shatzer settled into the role of innkeepers, they kept hearing how much locals missed the inn’s pub. “It was a loss for the community, a hub to come and just hang out and meet the neighbors, a place for locals to get a bite to eat,” Drummond said. Guests who had driven far to stay at the inn also expressed interest in eating on-site. After some experimentation, the couple reopened the 25-seat pub in May.
