Here’s a look at how various national experts rated the Broncos in their power rankings entering Week 16:
The Athletic (No. 2) | Last week: No. 4
"Bo Nix made a late run at this distinction Sunday with a 302-yard, four-touchdown day, but the Broncos have gotten to the top spot in the AFC with their defense. Bonitto is the best player on that unit with 12.5 sacks and 80 splash plays, according to TruMedia. Denver has won 11 straight, and its two losses came by a combined four points," Josh Kendall and Chad Graff write. See the full rankings.
Bleacher Report (No. 1) | Last week: No. 2
"If Bo Nix continues to play like he did against the Packers, the Broncos aren't just the best team in the AFC. They should be considered the best team in professional football.
"Nix threw for 302 yards and a season-high four touchdowns against Green Bay's talented defense. He pushed the ball down the field and made the Packers pay. Nix's slow starts have been an issue throughout the season. Now, the Broncos could be rounding into a complete team capable of taking down any opponent," Brent Sobleski writes. See the full rankings.
CBS Sports (No. 1) | Last week: No. 2
"They take over the top spot after beating the Packers. Bo Nix was at his best in that game, which serves notice that they are the team to beat in the AFC right now," Pete Prisco writes. See the full rankings.
ESPN (No. 3) | Last week: No. 4
"Alex Singleton, who turned 32 on Dec. 7 and had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor last month, has spoken about 'just appreciating every moment I have in this game.' The Broncos have signed several players to extensions over the past two seasons, leaving Singleton and defensive tackle John Franklin-Myers as their most high-profile unrestricted free agents in March. Singleton moved to middle linebacker this season to accommodate the arrival of Dre Greenlaw, and Singleton has flourished with his fifth 100-tackle season in the past six years. Though he likely won't get a long-term deal because of his age, the Broncos will want him back. As inside linebackers coach Jeff Schmedding said: 'He's at PhD level'," Jeff Legwold writes. NFL.com (No. 2) | Last week: No. 3
"The Broncos made their case to be considered the best team in the AFC with an impressive comeback win over the Packers, outscoring them 20-3 over the game's final 24 minutes. Bo Nix heated up and finished with one of his better career stat lines (302 yards and four touchdowns through the air), even with a few dropped picks by the Pack. Denver's offensive line held up well, and the penalties didn't get out of hand. On defense, the Broncos were tested on their first five possessions, but Patrick Surtain's interception flipped the game on its head. From that point on, the defense was dominant. Even with the late turnovers on downs, this performance was a muscle-flexer -- and Denver's 11th straight win. What else do you want to see? This is a strong, battle-tested team that can make a deep postseason run," Eric Edholm writes. See the full rankings.
The Ringer (No. 2) | Last week: No. 4
"I’ve been harsh toward Denver’s offense, but I’ll always be fair, and I admit that quarterback Bo Nix has elevated his play in this season’s biggest moments.
"On Sunday, Nix was excellent at avoiding sacks, moving the chains on third down, and turning red zone trips into touchdowns — and it's been that way all season. While those metrics are often subject to volatility and don’t tell us whether a quarterback is elite, that combination will win games. And if Nix stays hot in those key areas, Denver can be a champion, no matter how uneven the passing game gets at times." Diante Lee writes. See the full rankings.
Sports Illustrated (No. 4) | Last week: No. 6
"Speaking of Super Bowl moments, while Bo Nix’s progression has existed beneath the banalities of his EPA, displaying the height of his powers in a game with massive postseason implications has to make everyone rethink the AFC as a conference with a supposed power vacuum," Conor Orr writes. See the full rankings.

"There are now three distinct tiers at the top. The top two teams in the NFC West are practically 1a and 1b. Next it’s the Broncos, and then a gap to everyone else. DVOA has Denver with an 81.5% chance to get the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The Broncos have a strong home-field advantage in the altitude, a head coach who is likely going to the Hall of Fame and a defense that is comfortably in the top five. Underrate them at your own risk," Frank Schwab writes. See the full rankings.
