The Historic Park City Alliance said that Ski Bum on the Run, the group’s playful twist on the holiday tradition, is running now through Dec. 21. Rip the Ski Bum Credit: Historic Park City Alliance Instead of an elf, a mischievous mountain friend “Rip the Ski Bum” is dashing through M ain Street, hiding in local businesses and spreading festive cheer, the alliance said.  Inspired by Elf on the Shelf, Ski Bum on the Run features Rip, a mischievous Ski Bum who pops up somewhere new on Historic Main Street each day, encouraging families to explore, spot him and win small prizes from local businesses. Each day, locals and visitors alike can follow the clues posted on Historic Park City’s Instagram and website stories and search for Rip the Ski Bum hidden throughout Main Street businesses from Dec. 12–21. When found, people should snap a picture with Rip and post their photo to Instagram using #SkiBumOnTheRun and tag @historicparkcity for a chance to win. Each day, one lucky participant will be randomly selected to receive a prize from that day’s host business. Each evening, the alliance will reveal Rip the Ski Bum’s exact location and drop a hint for the next day’s hiding spot. “We are excited to launch Main Street’s newest family-friendly holiday tradition, Ski Bum on the Run,” said Ginger Wicks, executive director of the Historic Park City Alliance. “The light-hearted, mildly competitive campaign is a fun way to promote our local businesses through daily prizes and give guests multiple opportunities to discover something new and simply revel in the magic of the season.” Longing to relive his epic powder day of ’97, Tony “Rip” McWilliams’ reputation precedes him as the most infamous ski bum to overstay his welcome on Historic Main Street, the alliance said. Wanted for mischief such as waxing skis with a holiday candle, schmoozing with international tourists and over-indulging in one too many mugs of cocoa, the Historic Park City Alliance said it appreciates any assistance from the public to investigate Rip’s whereabouts to catch him in his (cat) tracks.   The post Ski Bum on the Run is Historic Park City’s twist on Elf on the Shelf appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
