(KRON) -- A child was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday morning in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, according to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). The collision happened around 10:37 a.m. when SFPD was dispatched to Hayes and Webster streets. Officers arrived at the scene and lo cated the child suffering with injuries, SFPD said. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died at the medical center. The child was determined to be a 1-year-old boy. The driver was backing out of the garage of a residence and then struck the boy in the driveway, SFPD said. According to an SFPD investigation, the boy and the driver knew each other. However, police did not disclose the relationship between the child and driver. SFPD did not announce any arrests in this incident. "This tragic incident appears to be isolated; there was no risk to the public, and there is no evidence of criminal action.
