Dec 15, 2025
South Summit School District announced Allyson Bateman as the winner of its 11th Annual Holiday Art Contest, a tradition that celebrates student creativity across the district.
Each year, a different school is selected to design the artwork featured on the district’s official holiday card, wh
ich is distributed to employees, neighboring school districts and state and local agencies.
This year’s featured school was South Summit Middle School, where eighth-grade student Bateman earned top honors. She created a seasonal piece using Prismacolor colored pencils, which the district said showcased exceptional technique, detail and artistic vision.
Bateman is a student of Camille Vernon, an art teacher known for fostering a love of artistic expression and encouraging exploration across a wide range of mediums. Vernon shared her enthusiasm for Bateman’s accomplishment and highlighted the importance of providing students with opportunities to shine through creative work.
As this year’s contest winner, Bateman received a $100 gift card and a printed copy of her artwork as it appears on the district’s official holiday card. Her artwork will now represent South Summit School District as it is shared throughout the region.
Allyson Bateman is the daughter of Jessica and Dave Bateman.
South Summit School District said it congratulates Allyson and extends appreciation to all students who participated in this year’s contest. The district said it looks forward to continuing this meaningful tradition that highlights the creativity and talents of its students.
